Unlike dogs, cats are pretty resistant when it comes to diseases. It’s mainly because they are not as domesticated as dogs which is just a better way to say they are not as inbred. Meaning they have a pretty good immune system. But even the healthiest breeds can become ill. 1. Fleas

Having fleas is very common for cats. The good thing is they are very easily treatable. Delaying in the treatment can lead to anemia. So, treatment should be provided as soon as possible.

  • Excessive scratching
  • Excessive licking
  • Red spots on the skin
  • Hair loss
  • Flea dirt on fur

2. Lower Urinary Tract Infection (LUTI)

4. Obesity

Many owners are very fond of spoiling their cats as much as possible. On top of that domestic cats don’t get to do a lot all day. This allows the perfect environment for obesity to thrive among cats. A lot of feline diseases can be traced back to being overweight.

  • General laziness
  • Difficulty in movement

  • Increase physical activity
  • Play with your cat more
  • Modify diet

5. Tapeworms

Tapeworms are pretty common among cats. They can make your cat uncomfortable. Worms can also cause malnutrition, diarrhea, anemia, etc. If left untreated for a long time, it can cause serious issues. 

Symptoms:

  • Vomiting
  • Weight loss
  • Chunks of worms in feces
  • Worms can be seen around the anus (Especially when sleeping)

Treatment:

  • Talk to your vet
  • Prescribed oral or topical medication
  • Injections may be required
  • Flea proof your home
